From the President

Dear IARPP Members,

It has been just a few weeks since we returned from our annual meeting, which this year took place in Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico. It was a magnificent meeting, in which we embarked on a profound journey of exploration of the concept of ‘home,’ not only as a physical space but also as an area of psychological significance that is at the heart of relational psychoanalysis and that we think of in relation to a deep longing for belonging.

Having had the opportunity to share and experience the plenaries and parallel sessions, the participation in the ‘early groups’ and the post-plenary discussion groups, as well as the shared coffees and lunches, made us feel at home. At ‘home’ for the hospitality of Mexico and its people, but also for seeing in person such dear colleagues and friends from all over the world. At ‘home’ for sharing and being able to think together about the complexities of our day-to-day work, so solitary.

I would like to thank once again the magnificent work done by the conference co-chairs, Adriana Cuenca Carrara (USA/Mexico) and Berta Loret de Mola (Mexico), together with the rest of the Local Organizing Committee, so that we could enjoy such a rich conference.

And as usual, we are already working on our next meeting, which, as we announced, will take place in Athens, Greece, in June 2025. You will soon receive more information about it. In the meantime, we will remain ‘connected.’

With warm regards,

Sandra Toribio Caballero
