Dear IARPP Members,<\/p>\n

In this year 2021, so extraordinary and still so much characterized by the strenuous struggle to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, I take the IARPP President\u2019s baton from Steve Kuchuck (US), whom I thank for his excellent and devoted work. This is the second time I am taking on this important responsibility. I will try to fulfill my role with renewed dedication and joy.<\/p>\n

I have always passionately participated in the development of the community of professionals who recognize themselves in the relational perspective, and in an idea of psychoanalysis and psychotherapy that enhances the specificity of the search for depth and complexity in the clinical encounter, while being open to the results of neuroscience, research on mother-infant interaction, attachment theory and motivational theories. This \u2018updated\u2019 vision testifies to the vitality and importance of the relational perspective to the contemporary world.<\/p>\n

In this moment of profound suffering that the whole world is going through, a strong need for caring, solidarity, connection and sharing emerges. Such a difficult period also represents a great opportunity for reflection for all of us. I believe that therapists who place relationality at the center of their clinical and human commitment can make a crucial contribution by listening to the profound need for recognition and cohesion that runs through people and societies, to promote a renewed globalized and yet specific attention to our \u2018common humanity.\u2019<\/p>\n

With its numerous proposals, IARPP plays an important role in supporting dialogue and openness in giving voice to many professional communities at an international level.<\/p>\n

To fuel this openness is my main commitment.<\/p>\n

I take the opportunity of my first greeting to thank deeply all my colleagues who carry on our professional and human exchange with their generous and creative work in the different IARPP committees.<\/p>\n

I am also very happy to announce that on October 23 and 24, 2021, Saturday and Sunday, the 2nd IARPP Symposium<\/em> will be held online, a moment of meeting while we wait to finally meet in person again in Los Angeles in June 2022.<\/p>\n

Given that in these days we are celebrating the 700th anniversary of Dante\u2019s entry into the \u201cdark wood,\u201d a dramatically contemporary image, I would like to conclude with the words that Dante uses in the XXV\u00b0 Canto of \u201cParadise\u201d regarding hope<\/em>, which he defines as something sure, as sure is our hope to hug each other again.<\/p>\n

I said, \u201cHope
\nis sure expectancy of future bliss
\nto be inherited \u2013 the holy fruit
\nof God\u2019s own grace and man\u2019s precedent worth.<\/p>\n

Cari Membri IARPP,<\/p>\n

In questo anno 2021 cos\u00ec straodinario e ancora cos\u00ec tanto caratterizzato dalla strenua lotta per superare la pandemia da Covid-19, raccolgo il testimone di Presidente IARPP da Steve Kuchuck\u00a0 (EU)che ringrazio e per il suo eccellente e generoso lavoro. Per me questa \u00e8 la seconda volta che assume questa importante responsabilit\u00e0, cercher\u00f2 di svolgere il mio ruolo con nuova dedizione e gioia.<\/p>\n

Ho sempre partecipato con passione agli sviluppi della comunit\u00e0 dei professionisti che si riconoscono nella prospettiva relazionale e in un\u2019idea di psicoanalisi e psicoterapia che valorizzi la specificit\u00e0 della ricerca di profondit\u00e0 e complessit\u00e0 nell\u2019incontro clinico e al tempo stesso si apra ai risultati delle neuroscienze, della ricerca sull\u2019interazione madre-bambino, della teoria dell\u2019attaccamento e delle teorie motivazionali. Questa visione \u2018aggiornata\u2019 testimonia la vitalit\u00e0 e l\u2019importanza del contributo che la prospettiva relazionale pu\u00f2 offrire al mondo contemporaneo.<\/p>\n

In questo momento di profonda sofferenza che tutto il mondo sta attraversando, emerge forte il bisogno di cura, solidariet\u00e0, di connessione e condivisione. Un periodo cos\u00ec difficile rappresenta anche una grande opportunit\u00e0 di riflessione per tutti noi. Credo che i terapeuti che mettono la relazionalit\u00e0 al centro del loro impegno clinico e umano possano dare un cruciale contributo di ascolto del profondo bisogno di riconoscimento e di coesione che attraversa le persone e le societ\u00e0, per promuovere una rinnovata attenzione globalizzata, e tuttavia specifica, alla nostra \u201ccomune umanit\u00e0\u201d.<\/p>\n

Con le sue numerose proposte la IARPP svolge un\u2019importante funzione di dialogo e apertura nel dar voce a tante comunit\u00e0 a livello internazionale.<\/p>\n

Alimentare questa aperture e accoglienza \u00e8 il mio principale impegno.<\/p>\n

Colgo l\u2019occasione di questo mio primo saluto per ringraziare di cuore tutti i colleghi che con me portano avanti il nostro scambio umano e professionale con il loro impegno generoso e creativo nei vari Comitati IARPP.<\/p>\n

Sono anche molto contenta di poter annunciare che Sabato 23 e Domenica 24 Ottobre 2021 si svolger\u00e0 il II\u00b0 Symposium IARPP online, un momento di incontro prima di ritrovarci finalmente in presenza a Los Angeles nel 2022.<\/p>\n

Dato che proprio in questi giorni stiamo celebrando i 700 anni dall\u2019ingresso di Dante nella \u201cselva oscura\u201d, imagine drammaticamente attuale, vorrei concludere con le parole che Dante usa nel XXV\u00b0 Canto del \u201cParadiso\u201d riguardo alla speranza che definisce come qualcosa di certo, come certa \u00e8 la nostra speranza di riabbracciarci:<\/p>\n
