Ten years ago, no one in Russia knew about Relational psychoanalysis. At least, there was no mention of it. There were no translated Relational texts, no references to Relational authors \u2013 nothing. We didn’t have an opportunity to study this perspective or even discuss Relational ideas with colleagues.<\/p>\n

I (Alexander Levchuk) remember how I first learned about Relational psychoanalysis from my American supervisor in 2014. And then I was faced with the total lack of information about it in our country. Since then, I have started to get acquainted with foreign Relational literature on my own and to popularize the relational perspective among colleagues.<\/p>\n

A lot has changed since then. There are now several educational projects taught by foreign specialists. Many colleagues have already graduated from these programs. With time, my colleagues and I have started conducting seminars, supervisory groups, reading groups \u2013 the Relational perspective is becoming more and more popular in our country. However, it is still relatively little-known among Russian colleagues, so there is much more to be done to popularize it.<\/p>\n

This year the Russian chapter of IARPP began its activities. We are engaged in its development.<\/p>\n

Together with Alyona Chukanova, our friend and colleague from Ukraine, we (Alexander Levchuk and Elina Ryzhenkova) are translating Steven Kuchuck’s book, The Relational Revolution in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy <\/em>(2021) into Russian.<\/p>\n

We wish to thank Matt Aibel (USA) for his support. He has kindly agreed to organize a Relational study group in Russia with us, which will start in September 2021.<\/p>\n

In the future, we plan to hold the first Relational conference in Russia.<\/p>\n
