Last year the Thessaloniki chapter launched a Study Group on Ecopsychoanalysis, working on Joseph Dodds\u2019 book, \u201cPsychoanalysis and Ecology at the Edge of Chaos.\u201d The book introduced novel and interesting transdisciplinary areas of thinking, for example, Deleuze and Guattari\u2019s philosophy and schizoanalysis; Bateson\u2019s Ecology of Mind; and non-linear dynamic systems and chaos theory.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

At the beginning of 2021, Joseph (Czech Republic) generously accepted our invitation to lead a workshop with us, which further stimulated our interest in these topics. We then invited other speakers with expertise in these areas to help us further explore these new concepts.<\/p>\n

Currently we are in the process of reflecting on the more salient issues encountered in ecopsychoanalysis. Another seminar with Joseph Dodds has been planned for the beginning of 2022. Additionally, the question of the social responsibility of the analyst came into the foreground early this fall. So, after the group wraps up the basic themes of Dodds\u2019 book, we plan to further expand our work by considering issues raised in Social and Community Psychoanalysis.<\/p>\n

Parallel to the Ecopsychoanalysis Study Group, we also offer a year-long seminar to our senior and junior members. Meeting once a week with Avgi Saketopoulou (USA), the group studies classic texts on different psychoanalytic perspectives of understanding the Unconscious. Our discussions are very lively with different viewpoints expressed and interesting themes emerging.<\/p>\n

Although the three waves of the pandemic engendered deep uncertainty and fatigue in our personal and professional lives, we find all these educational meetings very stimulating, enabling our group members to interact, albeit on the internet, and further expand our thinking.<\/p>\n
