Here follows a summary of the latest publications and presentations by our members:<\/p>\n

In Beyond Fragmentation: Clinical Journeys in Contemporary Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy<\/em>, Ingrid Pedroni<\/strong> (Italy) centers a self psychological perspective in the spirit of an integrationalist. Spyros Orfanos notes that Pedroni\u2019s book \u201cmakes comparisons among therapy schools that are lucid and, at times, magisterial,\u201d adding that she \u201ccaptures the radical changes that are taking place in psychoanalytic epistemology.\u201d<\/p>\n

In\u00a0Risking Intimacy and Creative Transformation in Psychoanalysis,<\/em>\u00a0Lauren Levine<\/strong> (USA) considers the impact of trauma and creativity on the challenge of creating one\u2019s own intelligible story. She’s\u00a0interested in the stories we\u00a0tell, individually and collectively, as well as what gets disavowed and dissociated by experiences of relational, intergenerational and sociopolitical trauma. She’s also concerned with whose stories get told and whose get erased, silenced and marginalized, and\u00a0uses film, dance, poetry and literature as creative frames to explore diverse aspects of psychoanalytic process.<\/p>\n

Drawing on unpublished archival interviews and correspondence, Ann D\u2019Ercole<\/strong> (USA) offers a comprehensive view of early psychoanalytic pioneer Clara M. Thompson. D\u2019Ercole\u2019s ambitious two-volume biography, Clara M. Thompson\u2019s Early Years and Professional Awakening: An American Psychoanalyst (1893-1933)<\/em> and Clara M. Thompson\u2019s Professional Evolution and Legacy: An American Psychoanalyst (1933-1958)<\/em>, clarifies and celebrates Thompson\u2019s role in psychoanalytic history, reclaiming her numerous and valuable contributions to the field as we know it today.<\/p>\n

Psychopathology of the Situation in Gestalt Therapy: A Field-Oriented Approach<\/em>, a volume co-edited by Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb<\/strong> (Italy), explores new ways of treating difficult clinical situations in the uncertainty of a world in crisis, through a relational, phenomenological and aesthetic field-oriented lens.\u00a0The Gestalt-centered perspective modifies the entire experiential field and allows the presence of the therapist to be modulated.<\/p>\n

Noel Jeffs<\/strong> (Australia) offers a series of poetic meditations exploring issues of personal spiritual pilgrimage and our place in this world in A Pilgrim\u2019s Poetry. <\/em>His reflections, deriving from pilgrimmages to the Holy Land in Jerusalem, Dorset in the United Kingdom, and Assisi in Italy, seek to fuse the concept of the Father in psychoanalysis and in religion.<\/p>\n

Haim Weinberg<\/strong> (USA) is co-editor of Advances in Online Therapy: Emergence of a New Paradigm, <\/em>which examines how individual, couple and family psychotherapy are adjusting to the online format. The book explores the main challenges and obstacles unique to each approach, offering leading experts\u2019 approaches to overcoming these challenges. Weinberg has also published a chapter and several papers on various aspects of group therapy and presented at several group therapy conferences.<\/p>\n

Steven Botticelli<\/strong> (USA) queries our current interest in \u201cthe ethical turn,\u201d suggesting that it may derive from a disquieting sense of our position as \u201cimplicated subjects\u201d within the neoliberal political economy, aware of our passive participation in causing widespread harm. Noga Guggenheim<\/strong> (Israel) offers a new take on friendship, essaying its specific qualities, how it is subjectively experienced and changes over the course of a patient\u2019s life, and how it might serve as catalyst for positive change in the therapeutic process.<\/p>\n

Adam Schechter<\/strong> (USA) contemplates the fathering experience through a number of psychoanalytic conceptualizations including Grotstein\u2019s \u201cbackground objects\u201d as well as moment-to-moment descriptions of father\/baby interactions. Batya Shoshani<\/strong> and Michael Shoshani<\/strong> (Israel) analyze perversion in Roman Polanski\u2019s film Bitter Moon <\/em>and also explore psychotic states, emphasizing the existential anxieties at the heart of psychotic and other severe disorders.<\/p>\n
