\"\"<\/a>In this book, Jill Salberg and Sue Grand offer a nuanced and comprehensive overview of the psychoanalytic work on transgenerational trauma, rooting their perspective in attachment theory and the social-ethical turn of Relational psychoanalysis.<\/p>\n

Transgenerational Trauma: A Contemporary Introduction<\/em>\u00a0is a cutting-edge study of trauma transmission across generations. Salberg and Grand consider how our forebears’ trauma can leave a scar on our lives, our bodies, and on our world. The authors posit that, too often, we re-cycle the social violence to which our forebears were subjected. Salbert & Grand’s unique approach embraces diverse psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theories, as they look at attachment, legacies of violence, and the role of witnessing in healing. Clinical and personal stories are interwoven with theory to elucidate the socio-historical positions that we inherit and live out. Jill Salberg, Ph.D.<\/strong>\u00a0is Faculty at the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis. She is the editor of\u00a0Psychoanalytic Credos: Professional Journeys of Psychoanalysts\u00a0<\/em>(2022) and\u00a0Good Enough Endings\u00a0<\/em>(2010).<\/p>\n

Sue Grand, Ph.D.\u00a0<\/strong>is Faculty at the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis. She is the author of\u00a0The Hero in the Mirror: From Fear to Fortitude\u00a0<\/em>(2009) and\u00a0The Reproduction of Evil\u00a0<\/em>(2002). She has co-edited two books with Lewis Aron and Joyce A. Slochower:\u00a0Decentering Relational Theory: A Comparative Critique\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0De-Idealizing Relational Theory: A Critique from Within\u00a0<\/em>(both 2018).<\/p>\n

Jointly they are the editors of\u00a0Wounds of History: Repair and Resilience in the Trans-Generational Transmission of Trauma<\/em>\u00a0(2017) and\u00a0Transgenerational Trauma and the Other: Dialogues across History and Difference\u00a0<\/em>(2017). Both won the Gradiva Award in 2018.<\/p>\n
