Nominations for two members-at-large of the IARPP Board of Directors will be accepted through January 15, 2015, for an election to be held February 22-26, 2016. \u2028Please send nominations to Valerie Ghent via email<\/a><\/u> or by mail to Valerie Ghent at IARPP, 799 Broadway, Suite #305, New York, NY 10003, USA.<\/p>\n

If you are nominating someone else, please check to make sure he or she is willing to serve before sending the nomination. Self-nominations are welcomed as well. Additionally, nominees must have paid 2016 IARPP dues to be eligible to participate in this election. A description of responsibilities and qualifications for Board members appears below.<\/p>\n

Nominees are asked to prepare a statement of no more than two paragraphs which includes an overview of your background, experience, credentials, why you want to be on the IARPP Board, and what strengths and qualifications you bring to the Board. If you wish, you may provide a photo (e-photo) to accompany your statement.<\/p>\n

Qualifications for IARPP Board of Directors:<\/strong><\/p>\n

IARPP is an international organization, and therefore the Board is eager to encourage representation among its members from areas outside the United States. \u00a0The primary qualifications for Board members include commitment to and interest in IARPP and relational psychoanalysis, as well as an appetite for the work of the Board (see below for a description of the responsibilities of Board members).\u00a0 In your two paragraph statement of interest, you might also include your clinical and scholarly experience.\u00a0Prior activity in IARPP is especially desirable and relevant (such as organization of or presentations at IARPP conferences; publications; or participation in local chapter activities).<\/p>\n

IARPP Board of Director Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

IARPP Board members must:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Be prepared to contribute their time and other resources. Directors should be prepared to contribute to the work of IARPP and to encourage colleagues to do the same.<\/p>\n

\u2022 In addition, Directors should willingly contribute their expertise (e.g. marketing, accounting, legal, etc.) to further the aims of the organization.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Participate fully in Board meetings.\u00a0 Most Board meetings are conducted via conference call and are usually scheduled on Sundays between 3:30pm-5pm EST. There are approximately 6 to 9 conference calls per year, and one face-to-face Board meeting at the annual IARPP Conference.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Participate fully on Board committees: attend meetings, including the annual IARPP conference, wherever it is located; read the necessary documents ahead of time and be prepared to discuss the issues at hand. Committee meetings are the place where key issues are discussed, analyzed and resolved. Recommendations for board action are often formulated at the committee level.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Directors who belong to local chapters will do whatever they can to serve as links between their chapters and the IARPP Board.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and accrediting bodies.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Approve the budget.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Report to the President of the IARPP Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Keep individual agendas subordinate to the aims of the organization. Acting out of self-interest is discouraged.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Keep discussions and reports confidential.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Provide input for the strategic plan and monitor IARPP\u2019s progress toward achieving established goals.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Abide by the bylaws of IARPP and uphold the organization\u2019s values as stated in the bylaws.<\/p>\n
