Book Announcement by Tomas W\u00e5nge<\/strong> (Sweden)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>There have been almost no Swedish translations of relational authors until Tomas W\u00e5nge\u2019s recently published introductory book on relational psychology.<\/p>\n

The setup of the book, written in Swedish, runs parallel to the development of the relational movement, beginning with a short description of the history of psychotherapy and the critics of classical psychoanalysis. The next two chapters outline the birth of the relational turn, including the establishment of the Relational track at NYU\u2019s Post-Doctoral Program, Psychoanalytic Dialogues<\/em>, and IARPP. A theoretical presentation of the relational perspective follows, including a chapter on the theory of knowledge, epistemology, as well as surveys of a number of relational authors and their work: Sullivan, Mitchell, Ghent, Benjamin, Bromberg, Aron, Donnel Stern and Slochower. There are also two shorter chapters on affect theory and intersubjective systems theory, i.e. Stolorow, Atwood, et al. The book concludes with a discussion of the critics of the relational perspective, with an appendix focusing on IARPP\u2019s conferences, presidents, literature, etc.<\/p>\n
