The Candidates Committee, founded and led by Margaret Black Mitchell (USA), consists of candidates from all over the world who come together to create a place where the focus is specifically on and for candidates and early career psychoanalysts.<\/p>\n

During our September meeting we had a major transition, with Margaret stepping down and former co-chair Sandra Toribio (Spain) taking her place as IARPP Board Liaison. <\/em>In addition, Fabia Banella (Italy) and Erik Faberberg (Sweden) took over as co-chairs from Gadit Orian (Israel) and Sandra. We have welcomed Lilach Shalev (Israel) and Ignacio Blasco (Spain) to the committee, and we are constantly looking for inclusion and dialogue with possible representatives from other countries where IARPP has chapters.<\/p>\n

The reconstituted committee has the privilege to meet regularly and share everyone\u2019s experience during the Covid-19 pandemic. These discussions give us valuable insights into our various countries\u2019 situations. Is there a future for face-to-face meetings? Many reports of closed offices have been disheartening.<\/p>\n

Andrea Rihm (Chile) said she has been working a lot and experienced a feeling of tiredness: when we see and hear so much need around, it’s easy to forget to take the time to stop and reflect on the impact this pandemic has had on ourselves.\u00a0Many candidates find themselves working more: Lilach Shalev (Israel) shared that it is hard switching between phone, Zoom and clinical face-to-face meetings. These different methods are exhausting, but sharing the same Covid anxiety increased the intimacy and authenticity in the room; in a sense, this has felt calming and comforting. Afarin Kohan (Canada) said she is missing the direct human contact and all the shared experiences (i.e. looking with a patient at the snow outside the window). Of course, she said, we are all getting used to the Zoom sessions, but at some level this terrifies even more. Lissa Schaupp (USA) shared that she is feeling very displaced and ungrounded without the sanctuary of her office and the rituals, books, and space she had so carefully prepared for client sessions. Something helpful for Lissa and others in the group are readings and supervision groups, which provide a safe and affirming space to process the challenges of working during this time in addition to the clinical material. Remaining connected as best we can during these times continues to feel essential, and the connections provided by this IARPP committee are also very dear to us.<\/p>\n

In light of another year\u2019s postponement of the Los Angeles Conference, we are working to maintain contact with the members we had selected to present at the Candidates\u2019 Panel, hoping they will be available for the next scheduling of the conference, to take place, we hope, in 2022.<\/p>\n

In this hard time, we are happy to announce our Annual Candidate Webinar coming up in February 2021, to be led by Galit Atlas (USA) and moderated by John Skrovan (USA). This online seminar will focus on sexuality and emphasize working with the erotic and with the body in the analytic dyad. Readings include three papers on erotic longing, sex in culture, and breakdowns of unity in pregnancy and birth. The webinar is limited to 75 participants and is open to candidates in training and up to five years after examination. Online registration will begin next January 18.<\/p>\n

Comitato del Candidato<\/h2>\n

Il Comitato dei Candidati IARPP, fondato e guidato da Margaret Black Mitchell (USA), \u00e8 composto da candidati provenienti da tutto il mondo che si uniscono per creare un luogo in cui l’attenzione \u00e8 rivolta specificamente ai candidati e agli psicoanalisti\/psicoterapeuti all’inizio della carriera.<\/p>\n

Durante il nostro incontro di settembre abbiamo avuto una transizione importante, con Margaret che si \u00e8 dimessa e l’ex co-presidente Sandra Toribio (Spagna) che ha preso il suo posto come collegamento al Board della IARPP. Inoltre, Fabia Banella (Italia) ed Erik Faberberg (Svezia) sono diventati co-presidenti del Comitato dei Candidati prendendo il posto di Gadit Orian (Israele) e Sandra. Abbiamo accolto nel comitato Lilach Shalev (Israele) e Ignacio Blasco (Spagna) e siamo costantemente alla ricerca di nuovi membri e di dialogo con possibili rappresentanti di altri paesi in cui la IARPP ha delle sedi.<\/p>\n

Il rinnovato comitato ha il privilegio di incontrarsi regolarmente e di condividere fra i suoi membri l’esperienza di ciascuno, in questo periodo con particolare attenzione alla situazione generata dalla pandemia Covid-19. Queste discussioni ci forniscono informazioni preziose sulle situazioni dei candidati nei vari paesi del mondo. Ci poniamo domande, fra cui se c’\u00e8 un futuro per gli incontri faccia a faccia? Il fatto che molti dei nostri uffici sono chiusi \u00e8 scoraggiante.<\/p>\n

Andrea Rihm (Cile) ci ha detto che sta lavorando molto e con una profonda e mai provata sensazione di stanchezza: \u201cquando vediamo e sentiamo cos\u00ec tanto bisogno in giro, \u00e8 facile dimenticare di prendersi il tempo per fermarsi e riflettere sull’impatto che questa pandemia ha avuto su noi stessi\u201d ci ha detto. In effetti molti candidati si trovano a lavorare di pi\u00f9: Lilach Shalev (Israele) ha condiviso con noi quanto sia difficile nella stessa giornata muoversi tra sedute telefoniche, via Zoom e faccia a faccia. Questi diversi metodi sono estenuanti, ma condividere con i pazienti la stessa ansia per la Pandemia ha anche aumentato l’intimit\u00e0 e l’autenticit\u00e0 nella stanza; in un certo senso, questo \u00e8 stato calmante e confortante. Afarin Kohan (Canada) ci racconta che le manca il contatto umano diretto e tutte le esperienze condivise (ad esempio, guardare assieme ad un paziente la neve fuori dalla finestra). \u201cOvviamente – ha detto – ci stiamo abituando tutti alle sessioni di Zoom, ma a un certo livello questo mi terrorizza ancora di pi\u00f9\u201d. Lissa Schaupp (USA) ha condiviso quanto si senta errante e senza un luogo, in assenza del suo ufficio e dei rituali, i libri e lo spazio che era abituata a preparare con tanta cura per ogni sessione con i suoi pazienti. Qualcosa di utile, sia per Lissa che per gli altri nel gruppo, sono le letture psicoanalitiche e i gruppi di supervisione, che forniscono uno spazio sicuro per elaborare le sfide del lavoro durante questo periodo. Rimanere connessi come meglio possiamo durante questi tempi continua a essere essenziale, e anche la condivisione in questo comitato IARPP ci \u00e8 molto cara.<\/p>\n

Alla luce del rinvio di un altro anno della Conferenza IARPP di Los Angeles, stiamo lavorando per mantenere i contatti con i membri che avevamo selezionato per il Panel riservato ai candidati (che si tiene regolarmente ad ogni conferenza), sperando che siano disponibili per la conferenza che avr\u00e0 luogo, speriamo, nel Giugno 2022.<\/p>\n

In questo momento difficile, siamo felici di annunciare il nostro webinar annuale riservato esclusivamente ai candidati, che si terr\u00e0 a febbraio 2021, e include come docente Galit Atlas (USA) e moderatore John Skrovan (USA). Questo seminario online si concentrer\u00e0 sulla sessualit\u00e0 e il lavoro con l’erotico, nonch\u00e8 con il corpo nella diade analitica. Le letture includono tre articoli sul desiderio erotico, il sesso nella cultura e le interruzioni dovute alla gravidanza e alla nascita.
