Dear IARPP community:<\/p>\n

How does\u00a0one begin to write about IARPP-Peru\u2019s\u00a0events in this unusual year?<\/p>\n

The first thing is that we are all in good health. Nevertheless, Peru was (and still is)\u00a0hit hard by the pandemic, despite all the extreme measures that the government adopted from the beginning. IARPP-Peru has carried on with regular activities, now online, which has actually made it easier for those who, for various reasons, found it difficult to transport themselves.<\/p>\n

We have continued with the Literature and Relational Psychoanalysis workshop which begun almost three years ago, directed by Marco Martos (poet, professor of literature at several universities, and President of the Peruvian Academy of Language) and myself. After finishing a \u201cliterary tour\u201d all over South America, where we chose representative authors from each country, we have continued with the reading and analysis of Russian authors, classics such as Lermontov, Dostoyevsky and Chekhov, and contemporaries such as Svetlana Aleksievich.\u00a0The study of Russian literature is certainly a strong way to explore relationships and emotions.<\/p>\n

In January we held three different events around Jessica Benjamin’s (USA) visit to Lima: the presentation of the translation of Beyond Doer and Done To (Reconocimiento Mutuo)<\/em> and two seminars. As we all know, Jessica is one of the most read and best known authors outside the Relational track, which we believe generated a wide participation of colleagues from different schools and tendencies. As a keynote speaker, at both the book presentation and one of the seminars, we had Francisco Sagasti, Peru\u2019s current President (the prior president\u2019s departure having been organized by Congress).<\/p>\n

In May we held Galit Atlas\u00b4s (USA) conference on \u201cProspective Function.\u201d This event was organized around the presentation of the translation of the book she co-authored with Lewis Aron (USA), Dramatic Dialogues (Di\u00e1logos Dram\u00e1ticos)<\/em>. Those who have heard Galit speak (probably everyone reading this report) will know that we do not exaggerate when we say that the participants were more than satisfied, with her as well as with our guests: Carlos Nemirovski (Argentina), Jose Aguilar (Mexico), Carlos Rodriguez Sutil (Spain) and Denise Goldfajn (Brazil) to whom we are very grateful. It was a wonderful “meeting of minds” where we remembered and honored our beloved Lew.<\/p>\n

Last month we had Andrew Samuels’ (UK) conference, “The Political Trickster.” As many of you may have heard, we are experiencing a turbulent political moment in Peru, due in part to the presidential vacancy I mentioned. At the core we find corruption — tricksters who end up in jail. We believe that Samuels’s proposals are indispensable in trying to understand the political and social situation the world is going through, and Peru is surely no exception.<\/p>\n

From Lima we send a warm embrace to you all in IARPP, wishing first of all that you continue in good health. We hope that this pandemic begins to be controlled and, most especially, that we humans learn a lot from it. Have the best possible end-of-year and may 2021 bring you the best of luck.<\/p>\n

Per\u00fa<\/h2>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo empezar a escribir sobre los eventos de IARPP-Per\u00fa en este a\u00f1o tan inusual?<\/p>\n

Lo primero es que todos estamos sanos. Sin embargo, el Per\u00fa fue (y sigue siendo) golpeado duramente por la pandemia, a pesar de todas las medidas extremas que el gobierno adopt\u00f3 desde un inicio. IARPP-Per\u00fa ha seguido con sus actividades regulares, ahora en l\u00ednea, lo que en realidad ha facilitado a aquellos que, por diversas razones, tuvieron dificultades para transportarse.<\/p>\n

Hemos continuado con el taller de Literatura y Psicoan\u00e1lisis Relacional que se inici\u00f3 hace casi tres a\u00f1os, que dirigimos Marco Martos (poeta, profesor de literatura en varias universidades y Presidente de la Academia Peruana de la Lengua) yo. Este a\u00f1o, despu\u00e9s de pasar por una “gira literaria” por toda Am\u00e9rica, donde elegimos a autores representativos de cada pa\u00eds, hemos continuado con la lectura y el an\u00e1lisis de autores rusos, cl\u00e1sicos como Lermontov, Dostoievski y Ch\u00e9jov, y contempor\u00e1neos como Svetlana Aleksievich. El estudio de la literatura rusa es ciertamente una excelente forma de explorar las relaciones y las emociones.<\/p>\n

En enero celebramos tres eventos diferentes en torno a la visita de Jessica Benjamin (EE.UU.) a Lima: la presentaci\u00f3n de la traducci\u00f3n de Beyond Doer y Done To (Reconocimiento Mutuo) y dos seminarios. Como todos sabemos, Jessica es una de las autoras m\u00e1s le\u00eddas y conocidas fuera del \u00e1mbito relacional, lo que creemos que gener\u00f3 una amplia participaci\u00f3n de colegas de diferentes escuelas y tendencias. Como orador principal, tanto en la presentaci\u00f3n del libro como en uno de los seminarios, tuvimos a Francisco Sagasti, actual Presidente del Per\u00fa.<\/p>\n

En mayo celebramos la conferencia de Galit Atlas (EE.UU.) sobre “Funci\u00f3n prospectiva”. Este evento se organiz\u00f3 en torno a la presentaci\u00f3n de la traducci\u00f3n del libro del que es coautora con Lewis Aron (USA), Di\u00e1logos Dram\u00e1ticos. Quienes hayan escuchado a Galit (probablemente todos los que lean este informe) sabr\u00e1n que no exageramos cuando decimos que los participantes quedaron m\u00e1s que satisfechos, tanto con ella como con nuestros invitados: Carlos Nemirovski (Argentina), Jos\u00e9 Aguilar (M\u00e9xico), Carlos Rodr\u00edguez Sutil (Espa\u00f1a) y Denise Goldfajn (Brasil) a quienes estamos muy agradecidos. Fue un maravilloso “encuentro de mentes” en el que recordamos y honramos a nuestro querido Lew.<\/p>\n

El mes pasado tuvimos la conferencia con Andrew Samuels (Reino Unido), “El\u00a0 Pol\u00edtico Tramposo”. Como muchos de ustedes habr\u00e1n o\u00eddo, estamos viviendo un momento pol\u00edtico turbulento en Per\u00fa, en el coraz\u00f3n de la misma encontramos la corrupci\u00f3n – embaucadores, tramposos, que para sorpresa de muchos vemos como hoy en d\u00eda terminan en la c\u00e1rcel (como muchos est\u00e1n al tanto, tenemos varios ex-presidentes en proceso de investigaci\u00f3n, presos o requisitoriados. Creemos que las propuestas de Samuels son indispensables para tratar de entender la situaci\u00f3n pol\u00edtica y social que est\u00e1 atravesando el mundo, y el Per\u00fa seguramente no es una excepci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Desde Lima les enviamos un c\u00e1lido abrazo a todos ustedes en IARPP, deseando ante todo que contin\u00faen con buena salud. Esperamos que esta pandemia empiece a ser controlada y, sobre todo, que todos aprendamos mucho de esta. Tengan el mejor fin de a\u00f1o posible y que el 2021 les traiga la mejor de las suertes.<\/p>\n
