Lew Aron<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

The Board of Directors of IARPP mourns the passing of\u00a0Lewis Aron<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Lew<\/span> was the founding president of IARPP and a leading contributor to our organization and the development and expansion of Relational Psychoanalysis throughout the world. He was a uniquely gifted teacher, writer, editor and a loving, nurturing presence in our community and within contemporary psychoanalysis.<\/p>\n

Among his many accomplishments and professional contributions, Lew<\/span> was the Director of the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis for over 20 years\u2014until his passing, former President of the Division of Psychoanalysis of the\u00a0American Psychological Association<\/a>, and well-known for teaching hundreds of colleagues per week in his highly sought-after study and reading groups. He was a prolific writer and his 1996 volume\u00a0A Meeting of Minds: Mutuality in Psychoanalysis<\/i>\u00a0and his (1999) edited volume with Stephen Mitchell,\u00a0Relational Psychoanalysis: The Emergence of a Tradition<\/i>\u00a0are considered two of the essential texts in contemporary American psychoanalysis. He co-edited Routledge\u2019s Relational Perspectives Book Series, and with Stephen Mitchell and other colleagues, was one of the founders of \u00a0Psychoanalytic Dialogues: The International Journal of Relational Perspectives<\/i>. He was also an avid guitar player and a founding member of the rock band Sig, which performed at numerous IARPP conferences and other events.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Ghent<\/h1>\n

The Officers and Board of Directors of the IARPP note with
\nprofound sorrow the death of Emmanuel Ghent<\/a><\/strong>, M.D.<\/p>\n

Mannie was among the founders of the IARPP and served on its
\nBoard in the office of Treasurer.\u00a0 He was among the most significant
\ncontributors to contemporary relational psychoanalysis.\u00a0 Mannie
\ndevoted countless hours to helping us launch the IARPP.<\/p>\n

He was a gifted, innovative clinician, theoretician, and teacher,
\ncentral to the IARPP\u2019s activities since its inception.\u00a0 We will miss
\nhis grace, gentility, inspiration, vitality, and , most especially, his
\nability to find joy in the darkest hour.<\/p>\n
