Letter from President
Dear IARPP Members,
A month ago, the last of our two annual colloquiums came to an end. It revolved around Sue Grand’s (USA) work: “On Hatred: Perpetrator Fragments and Totalitarian Objects.” Once again, we have been fortunate to enjoy a complex debate and reflections that have enriched us – those who actively participated as well as those who followed it. As the moderators pointed out in their final post, we have explored the hatred in the individual, in the political, in relation to personal stories, crossed by family relationships, between siblings, racist or misogynist experiences, abuse of power in its different forms, such as cult abuse or wars. Thank you to the moderators and panelists, and to all who participated in one way or another.
We are currently working hard so that you will soon be able to receive the program of our Annual Conference. As you know, this year it will take place in Athens, June 19-22, 2025, and the topic will be “The Paradox of Freedom in Relational Psychoanalysis: Democracy and Tyranny in and out of Therapy.” We hope to meet you all there!
I take this opportunity to bid farewell with my best wishes for the coming 2025. May we see a better world, where the current conflicts that cause so much suffering can be resolved. In the meantime, we will continue to accompany each other from a distance.
With warm regards,
Sandra Toribio Caballero
