Relationality gives hope and meaning during times of disturbance and uncertainty. The relationships with like-minded colleagues grow from discussing professional literature and scholarly articles, clinical cases, and the challenges of working as a psychotherapist in a country where the war is a reality, not just an analytic metaphor. The Ukrainian Association of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy unites relational analysts from all over Ukraine and those who were forced to flee it due to the war and helps us maintain healing relationships and connections.

Whether war should be included in therapeutic relationships with our clients and how it influences the dynamic in therapist-client dyads was often discussed in our peer supervision groups. The interaction between an analyst and a patient cannot be understood without acknowledging political forces that represent power in the therapeutic process. Therefore, personal becomes political (Doñas, 2018).

Relational analysts from Ukraine have been trying to make meaning and explore how the intersubjectivity of participants in the therapeutic process has changed because of the constant need to dissociate some aspects of our daily lives due to traumatization. We practice a relational approach to profoundly understand the changes in a therapist’s and a patient’s psyche. Relational psychoanalysis, as a social and cultural construct, can be seen as a form of resistance and political change, as changes in individuals create societal change (Cushman, 2015).

The Ukrainian Association of Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy is honored to become an official chapter of The International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. We express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity to expand and polish our understanding of relational psychoanalysis through being a member of a community.

Реляційність дає надію та сенси у часи неспокою та нестабільності. Стосунки з однодумцями-колегами створюються під час обговорення професійної літератури, наукових статей, клінічних випадків та викликів у роботі психотерапевта у країні, де війна є реальністю, а не тільки аналітичною метафорою. Українська Асоціація реляційного психоаналізу та психотерапії об’єднує реляційних аналітиків з різних куточків України та тих, хто був змушений покинути її через війну, та допомагає нам зберігати цілющі стосунки та зв’язки.

Чи потрібно включати війну у терапевтичні стосунки з клієнтами та як це впливає та динаміку стосунків у діаді терапевт-клієнт часто обговорювалося на наших супервізійних групах. Взаємодія між аналітиком та пацієнтом не може бути осмислена без усвідомлення політичних сил, що репрезентують владу у терапевтичному процесі. Тому, особисте стає політичним (Doñas, 2018).

Реляційні аналітики з України намагаються осмислити та дослідити як інтерсуб’єктивність кожного з учасників терапевтичного процесу змінилася через постійну потребу дисоціювати деякі частини життя, що викликана травматизацією. Ми практикуємо реляційний підхід для глибинного розуміння змін у психіці терапевта та пацієнта. Реляційний психоаналіз, як соціальний та культуральний конструкт, може бути формою опору та політичних змін, т.к. індивідуальні зміни провокують зміни у суспільстві (Cushman, 2015).

Українська Асоціація реляційного психоаналізу та психотерапії має за честь стати офіційною філією Міжнародної Асоціації реляційного психоаналізу та психотерапії. Ми висловлюємо щиру вдячність та визнання за можливість розширити наше розуміння реляційного психоаналізу завдяки можливості долучитися до спільноти.
