By Stephanie Brody (USA)
I am pleased to announce the release of my book, Entering Night Country: Psychoanalytic Reflections on Loss and Resilience, published by Routledge (2016) as part of the Psychoanalysis in a New Key series. My book incorporates motifs from classic and modern literature, as well as clinical vignettes, to describe the psychoanalytic process. Seen as a journey, no less profound than the epic journeys depicted in the classic literature of Homer, psychoanalysis is described as a heroic and transformative endeavor, an effort to deal with impermanence, loss, intimacy, and consolation. Endorsed by Lew Aron, Adrienne Harris, and Anton Kris, it is a book for psychoanalysts and mental health clinicians, though it will be accessible to individuals outside of the field who have an interest in psychoanalysis.
I will be presenting this book at a “Meet the Author” session at the IARPP conference in Rome this June. Donnel Stern will be the interlocutor for my presentation.
