Sound Choice is a versatile, funky and fun band made up of professional singers and instrumentalists well known throughout the music industry for their work with artists such as Alicia Keyes, Aretha Franklin, Ashford & Simpson, B.B. King, Bruce Springsteen, Chaka Khan, Hall & Oates, Average White Band, Patti LaBelle and many others. We found Sound Choice for this one-of-a-kind event thanks to our own Valerie Ghent, who for over fifteen years has toured and performed with Ashford & Simpson. |

Featured guest soloists include Gianni Nebbiosi, Cleonie White and Steve Knoblauch. Many of you heard them perform at our 2011 Madrid Conference! In addition, Valerie Ghent will join the band to perform a few songs from her newest CD, Day to Day Dream. When Val sang at the Boston 2006 Conference reception, the whole room was dancing!

A little more background and IARPP history:
As some of you may know, Valerie is the daughter of Emmanuel Ghent, who was one of IARPP's founders, a major contributor to the founding of Relational Psychoanalysis and a dear friend and colleague of Steven Mitchell. Mannie for many years had a dual career in both music and psychoanalysis, and was renowned as a composer of electronic music. Valerie began working alongside her father in IARPP's earliest days and, since his unexpected passing in 2003, has continued to work with IARPP ever since.
Valerie, a musician and singer-songwriter, has expanded upon her father's legacy in founding the nonprofit Feel the Music! (feelthemusic.org), which she started after 9/11 with encouragement from Lew Aron, Steven Knoblauch and Spyros Orfanos to bring music to families impacted by the disaster. Many of our IARPP colleagues have worked with Feel the Music!, including Judith Rustin, Angela Mathews, Joanna Tiemann, Jude Ornstein and others who helped provide training, supervision and program development. With Lew's early encouragment, Feel the Music! was able to launch programs in 2005 and currently works with the 9/11 community, international teens impacted by terrorism, teens with cancer and seniors.
We all know music brings people together, so what better way to celebrate the legacy of Steven Mitchell and to welcome IARPP's second decade than celebrating with wonderful music, dancing and singing among friends and family!
