The Awakening of Desire: On the Analyst's Emotional Availability and Therapeutic Action
The webinar will begin on June 6 and will run until June 30.
This seminar will focus on patients entering treatment suffering from a "denial of desire." Like the living dead, these women and men seem incapable of feeling, caring, or wanting, and, as a result, they struggle to relate to others. By working at the "intimate edge," we can make contact with these patients and begin to have some therapeutic effect. Drawing from earlier and more recent readings of Dr. Ehrenberg's, this seminar will consider how the analyst's degree of emotional availability and vulnerability often, paradoxically, becomes her most powerful and sensitive instrument in this work.
All IARPP Webinars are currently limited to 20 participants and they fill up quickly. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. For this reason, those interested in participating are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Priority will be given to those who have not participated in previous webinars.
Participation in the webinar is limited to IARPP members in good standing, so please make sure that you have paid your current dues.
