News from the Web Seminar Committee

By Allison Katz (USA) and Carmine Schettini (Italy),
Co-chairs, Web Seminar Committee

The Web Seminar Committee’s most recent webinar was led by the Child, Adolescent, and Parents Psychotherapy Committee, and was entitled, “Therapist’s and Patient’s Subjectivities as Parents: Mutual Influences.” The faculty included Steven Tuber (USA), Leslie Gibson (USA), Jacqueline Gotthold (USA), Frances La Barre (USA), Macarena Lopez Magnasco (Chile), and Neil Altman (USA), with Aleksandra Misiolek (Spain) and Marco Bernabei (Italy) serving as moderators. The discussion was rich and evocative, highlighting the importance of including child/adolescent psychotherapy in the center of our discourse.

We are ending 2017 with a webinar running from December 4 to 17 based on the extraordinary new book by IARPP members Sue Grand (USA) and Jill Salberg (USA) entitled Wounds of History: Repair and Resilience in the Trans-Generational Transmission of Trauma. Amanda Kottler (South Africa) is the moderator for this program, with both Sue Grand and Jill Salberg as faculty. We are looking forward to engaging in a multilayered exploration of the interplay between trans-generational trauma and clinical practice, among other thought-provoking questions.

The 2018 season will open with a webinar organized by the Candidates Committee. This program will run from January 15 to February 4, 2018, and will be led by Jody Davies (USA) and moderated by John Skrovan (USA).  For a description of this webinar see the Candidates Committee update.

Following The Candidates Committee program, we will offer a webinar based on the book, Contemporary Psychoanalysis and The Legacy of the Third Reich.  We are fortunate to have the author, Emily Kuriloff (USA), serving as faculty for this webinar, as well as Webinar Committee member Christina Emanuel (USA) as the moderator. This event will run from March 5 to 18, 2018.

Coming in July 2018, we are pleased to announce the inclusion of a Spanish-language webinar. We are thrilled to have Carlos Rodríguez Sutil (Spain) serving as webinar leader, and former Webinar Committee co-chair André Sassenfeld (Chile) stepping in as moderator.  Additionally, we are in the beginning stages of planning a webinar in Italian, to be held in late September of 2018.  It will be organized and moderated by Carmine Schettini.

Further plans for 2018 are currently in progress.  We are looking forward to bringing the IARPP community another rich year of webinars with participants from all over the world.
