Chile

The Chilean Chapter celebrated its General Assembly on October 2018, at which the Board of Directors was renewed. The newly elected members were: Víctor Doñas, Juan Francisco Jordan (President), Leila Jorquera, Jaime Landa (Treasurer), Germán Morales, Luz Maria Parada (Secretary) and Analía Stutman. The recently elected Board enormously appreciates the work done by the previous Board under the leadership of Past President María Eugenia Boetsch.

Here follows a review of our recent activities as well as some events scheduled for the year ahead:

International Seminars:

In August, Adrienne Harris (USA) visited. She gave an open conference to the Chilean psychoanalytic community on “Hate, Misogyny and Envy” and a clinical workshop for chapter members as well as members of Instituto Latinoamericano de Salud Mental y Derechos Humanos (Latin American Institute of Mental Health and Human Rights) on “The Endless Process of Reparation: A Walking Cemetery.”

In October, a joint venture between University Alberto Hurtado (UAH) and IARPP-Chile featured presentations on “The Sense of Justice: For an Ethic of Change – The Body and Presence in Mental Health and Psychotherapy” by María Eugenia Hurtado, and “Encounters and Failed Encounters in Family and Social Life” by Marcelo Pakman, visiting us from Buenos Aires University.

October also featured a seminar given to the Child and Adolescent Committee by Janet Pombo, President of the Galician Psychoanalytic Association.

IARPP-Chile Clinical Meetings:

• “Chileans in Sydney,” featuring María Eugenia Boetsch, Francesca Colzani, Víctor Doñas, Juan Francisco Jordán and María José Mezzera offering our members the presentations they had given at the 2017 IARPP Conference in Sydney

• A meeting to celebrate the seventh anniversary of IARPP-Chile

• “Bullying Trauma and Psychopathology,” a panel discussion with Germán Morales, Patricia Walerstein and Luz María Parada

Coming in the New Year:

For 2019 we have already scheduled two International Meetings: March 20-23 with Jessica Benjamin (USA), and August 1-3 with Donna Orange (USA). In addition, we will hold the usual four Clinical Meetings organized by the different committees of our organization.

Warm regards to all our IARPP colleagues around the world,

Juan Francisco Jordan, President
