News from the Webinar Committee

By Allison Katz (USA) and Carmine Schettini (Italy)

The Webinar Committee is pleased to announce that Christina Emanuel (USA), will be joining Carmine Schettini as Webinar Committee Co-chair beginning January 1, 2019. Christina will succeed Allison Katz in her role as current co-chair. Allison will continue to serve as a member of the Webinar Committee.  We are very lucky to have Christina’s experience, passion, and professionalism in this new role.  Allison is exceedingly grateful to her committee, the IARPP board of directors, and the entire IARPP community for contributing to making her experience as co-chair profoundly robust and enriching.

2018 is proving to be another successful year for our webinar participants. Our most recent program was our Spanish language webinar led by Carlos Rodríguez Sutil (Spain) and moderated by André Sassenfeld (Chile), with panelists Juan José Martínez (Spain), L. Raimundo Guerra (Spain), Manuel Aburto (Spain), Ariel Liberman (Spain), Neri Daurella (Spain), Alejandra Plaza (México), José Ángel Aguilar Gil (México), Juan Francisco Jordán (Chile), and Roberto Arendar (Argentina). Many participants expressed enthusiasm at the opportunity to engage in their own language, as did the panelists. This committee will endeavor to create more programs for the members of this organization that are non-native English speakers.

With that in mind, we are happy to announce our next webinar will be an Italian-language webinar.  The title of this program is,“Così lontano così vicino: quando non possiamo essere entrambi nella stessa stanza per il nostro dialogo terapeutico e utilizziamo la tecnologia” (“So Far, So Near: When We Cannot Both Be in One Room for the Therapeutic Dialogue and Use Technology”).  The dates of this event are Monday, September 24, through Sunday, October 7, 2018. The esteemed list of faculty from Italy is as follows: Sara Biondi, Alioscia Boschiroli, Simona Caprilli, Susanna Federici, Ilaria Merici, Gianni Nebbiosi, Marco Ponta, Maria Silvia Soriato, Paolo Stramba-Badiale, and Maria Tammone. This seminar is being moderated by webinar co-chair Carmine Schettini.

We are in the process of planning our 2019 schedule of events.  We our fortunate that Donnel Stern (USA) has agreed to lead a webinar for us; details of this program will be announced soon.  Additionally, the IARPP community can expect another robust webinar from the Candidates Committee coming soon, as well as a continuation of webinars in Spanish and Italian, among other programs.

We remain grateful to the IARPP community for its engagement in our programs, and look forward to continuing to bring both cutting edge and timeless relational ideas into conversation with participants from all over the world.
