Relationality, Our Hope (Selected Writings)

Book Announcement by Alejandro Ávila-Espada (Spain)

Alejandro Ávila-Espada’s latest collection features a selection of works he wrote between 1985 and 2022 which have not been included in other published books. After an introduction that frames and describes the evolution of Ávila-Espada’s thinking, the works are grouped into four parts: I) On the conception of the relational clinic – wherein he develops his ideas about the relational perspective; II) About the processes of change, the facets of technique and the effects of psychotherapy – related to his decades-long research interests and his own intervention approaches; III) About the processes and contents of clinical and social intervention with its evolutionary facets – wherein the meaning of the interventions is considered; and IV) On the history and evolution of contemporary psychoanalysis, relational and group – which includes contributions from those who have been part of the history of contemporary psychoanalysis.

The book, published in Colección Pensamiento Relacional (the Relational Thinking Collection), includes a prologue by Carlos Rodríguez-Sutil and an epilogue by the author.
