Violence: Probing the Boundaries around the World

By Silvia Naisberg Silberman (Israel)

This collection of essays edited by Arie David Plat and Silvia Naisberg Silberman analyzes the conceptualization of violent processes across the world as well as the circumstances enabling them to exist, and opens up ways to imagine valuable, culturally sensitive interventions. It presents many of the atrocities we know about, those we don’t know about, and those with which we unknowingly collude. Published by Brill & Rodopi, the book elaborates upon presentations from the 11th Global Conference on Violence (Prague, 2013), including a chapter written by the editors, “Another Face of Violence: Internalized Oppression and Detrimental Contracts,” which describes concepts used in clinical consultation.
