Since our last report, the Webinar Committee presented an Italian language webinar in May entitled, “The Trauma of the Abused Patient as a Child: Clinical and Therapeutic Characteristics of Treatment in Childhood and Adulthood, Between Need for Testimony, Imprisonment of Secrecy, and Sense of Shame” (“Il trauma del paziente abusato da bambino. Caratteristiche cliniche e terapeutiche del trattamento nell’infanzia e nell’adulto, tra bisogno di testimonianza, prigionia del segreto e senso di vergogna”). Forty-five IARPP members participated. Although most were from Italy, we also welcomed Italian-speaking participants from Greece, Argentina, Romania, and the USA. We also welcomed young Italian colleagues who became IARPP members for the first time and for the first time participated in a webinar with great enthusiasm. The presenters were Mimma Infantino and Ilaria Merici, joined by discussants Valentina Desiderio and Maria Tammone. Carmine Schettini and Maria Silvia Soriato served as moderators.
During the webinar the presenters, discussants, moderators and participants focused on a challenging issue, the way child abuse and mistreatment results in pain and fragmentation in the body and soul of adult patients with whom we work, and the importance of early treatment. At the midpoint of the webinar we scheduled a Zoom meeting for the participants, which offered a warm and inviting opportunity to connect with colleagues and further explore the themes and feelings evoked during the two-week program (you can see some participants in the photo). The Zoom meeting was a success and is something likely to be offered during future IARPP webinars.
In the months ahead we look forward to a program featuring Steven Knoblauch (USA) who will present themes from his new book, Bodies and Social Rhythms: Navigating Unconscious Vulnerability and Emotional Fluidity (Routledge, 2020). Running from September 20 through October 3, this program will be co-moderated by Peter McKay (Australia) and Christina Emanuel (USA). Our 2021 season will conclude with a webinar presented by Hazel Ipp (Canada) and Malcolm Slavin (USA), with details forthcoming.
Finally, the Webinar Committee recently said good-bye to two committee members, Bob Benedetti (USA) and Allison Katz (USA), whose contributions in recent years have been most appreciated. In particular, Allison served as co-chair of the Webinar Committee from 2014 through 2018. We recently welcomed a new member to our committee, Cynthia Chalker (USA), whose strong presence will serve our webinars well. Welcome, Cynthia, and thank you to Bob and Allison!

Report dal Comitato Webinar
Dopo il nostro ultimo report, il Comitato Webinar ha presentato in Maggio un webinar in lingua italiana dal titolo: “Il trauma del paziente abusato da bambino. Caratteristiche cliniche e terapeutiche del trattamento nell’infanzia e nell’adulto, tra bisogno di testimonianza, prigionia del segreto e senso di vergogna”. Hanno partecipato a questo webinar quarantacinque membri, e sebbene la maggior parte fossero italiani, questo webinar ha accolto anche membri dalla Grecia, dall’Argentina, dalla Romania e dagli USA. Questo webinar ha anche accolto giovani colleghi italiani che sono diventati membri IARPP per la prima volta e per la prima volta hanno partecipato a un webinar con grande entusiasmo. I relatori sono stati Mimma Infantino e Ilaria Merici con i relativi discussant Valentina Desiderio e Maria Tammone. I moderatori sono stati Carmine Schettini e Maria Silvia Soriato.
In questo webinar, i relatori, i discussant, i moderatori e i partecipanti si sono concentrati su un argomenti impegnativo: il modo in cui l’abuso e il maltrattamento a danno dei bambini provocano dolore e frammentazione nel corpo e nella psiche nei pazienti adulti con cui lavoriamo in terapia e l’importanza del trattamento precoce. A metà del webinar abbiamo programmato un incontro via-Zoom per i partecipanti, che ha offerto l’opportunità calda e invitante di prendere contatto con tra colleghi e continuare a esplorare i temi e i vissuti emersi nelle due settimane di lavoro (potete vedere alcuni partecipanti nella foto). L’incontro via-Zoom è stato un successo ed è una cosa che verosimilmente va offerta anche nei futuri webinar IARPP.
Nei mesi a venire attendiamo con impazienza un programma con Steven Knoblauch (USA) che presenterà dei temi dal suo ultimo volume: “Bodies and Social Rhythms: Navigating Unconscious Vulnerability and Emotional Fluidity”, che si svolgerà dal 20 Settembre al 3 Ottobre; questo webinar sarà moderato da Peter McKay (Australia) e Christina Emanuel (USA). La stagione del 2021 si concluderà con un webinar condotto da Hazel Ipp (Canada) e Malcolm Slavin (USA), di cui avrete i dettagli in futuro.
Infine, il Comitato Webinar ha di recente salutato due membri, Bob Benedetti (USA) e Allison Katz (USA), dei quali abbiamo apprezzato i contributi negli ultimi anni. In particolare, Allison è stata co-chair del Comitato dal 2014 al 2018. Inoltre abbiamo recentemente dato il benvenuto come nuovo membro del nostro Comitato a Cynthia Chalker (USA) la cui forte presenza sarà molto utile ai nostri webinar.
