Webinars

As we begin 2019, the Webinar Committee would like to thank and acknowledge outgoing co-chair Allison Katz (USA) for her warm and collaborative service to our committee over the past few years. We wish her well as she completes her term, and we welcome Christina Emanuel (USA) as the new co-chair joining colleague Carmine Schettini (Italy).

Gianni Nebbiosi

We are pleased to announce our upcoming lineup of stimulating web seminar programs. First is our annual webinar co-sponsored by the Candidates Committee, currently underway and running through February 8. The goal of this webinar is to provide candidates and early-career psychoanalysts with opportunities to learn from some of the most accomplished members of our community, as well as a chance to interact with an international group of peers.

Susanna Federici

Led by Gianni Nebbiosi (Italy) and Susanna Federici-Nebbiosi (Italy), this webinar is entitled “Mimetic Understanding in Contemporary Relational Psychoanalysis.” John Skrovan (USA) returns this year as moderator for the candidates webinar.

In March we’ll present a webinar led by Donnel Stern (USA) on the topic of “Emergent Properties of the Interpersonal Field: Unformulated Experience and the Creation of Meaning.” We will address Stern’s approach to the interpersonal field in clinical psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, especially its emergent qualities. Stern’s view is anchored by several conceptualizations – unformulated experience, dissociation and enactment –  that are defined and explored in his books and in the articles that serve as the basis for our discussion. Micha Weiss (Israel) and Christina Emanuel will serve as co-moderators.

In October we will have an Italian-language webinar that will take up the topic of gender violence. Maria Silvia Soriato (Italy) will be the author and presenter, with Carmine Schettini moderating, and a group of discussants will be included. Additionally, we are planning a Spanish-language program to take place this summer.

Finally, Stephen Seligman (USA) has agreed to lead a webinar in which he will take up themes from his recent book, Relationships in Development: Infancy, Intersubjectivity and Attachment (Routledge, 2018). Stay tuned for the dates for this and for other programs we are planning.

We invite you to register for our webinars, as they provide a unique learning environment and way to connect to IARPP colleagues around the world.
