First and foremost, we would like to extend a huge thank you to discussant Tony Bass (USA), moderator John Skrovan (USA), and all the participants in our February 2023 webinar, “Swimming in the Same Psychic Waters: Dialogue of Unconsciouses and Flexible-Enough Frames,” who contributed to many interesting and generative dialogues over the course of two weeks.
This year we received an all-time record number of thoughtful and creative proposals for the upcoming panel sponsored by the Candidates Committee in the annual IARRP International Conference entitled, “Learning from the Other: Contributions, Confusions & Challenges of Drawing from Other Disciplines for New Analysts.”
After a painstaking deliberation process, we chose four panelists: Adva Balzam (Israel), Maria Javiera Pomés Arroyave (Chile), Marta López-Botet de Juan (Spain) and Karen Weiser (USA). These presenters will be exploring a wide range of topics including documentary filmmaking, feminism, spirituality and poetry. We’re also excited to announce our discussant for this year’s panel, Francesc Sáinz Bermejo (Spain). We look forward to seeing you all in Valencia in June at the Candidates Reception and the Candidates Committee panel!
Lastly, we’d like to welcome our newest member to our committee, José Bahamondes, representing Chile. José is a clinical pychologist and psychotherapist, with a masters in Childhood Studies from the University of Edinburgh. He’s a member of the APPR Chile, and, as part of his relational formation, he trained and studied in Chile and the United States. Currently living in Valparaiso, José works in private practice with adolescents and adults. His current research topics are trauma, adolescence and masculinities.
