Membership Committee

Dear IARPP Members:

The Membership Committee of IARPP hopes that all of you are well, in these challenging and dangerous times. It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Symposium on January 9 and 10, where we had a chance to exchange thoughts and experiences about our work and our lives during the pandemic.

We were delighted that 674 of us attended, from 25 countries. We have missed being able to be together in person at our conferences since we have been in the grip of Covid, but the symposium papers were rich, as was the participation from members, and it felt good that we were able to spend time together, even in a ‘remote’ format. The experience of being and thinking together was so rewarding and exhilarating that we are currently exploring ideas for a second on-line symposium in the Fall (save the date, Oct 23-24), again hoping to ‘bridge the gap’ in our seeing each other, as we anticipate our first chance, in what will be three years, to be together in person in Los Angeles in 2022.

We are pleased to be able to report that we currently have 2044 members in 47 countries, including China, Columbia, Croatia, Finland, Hungary, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Iran, Singapore and Taiwan, to name just some of the countries in which therapists are expressing interest in relational thought. If you have colleagues whom you think would be interested in knowing more about IARPP, please let them know about us. And if there is anything you find that IARPP can do to help get the word out in your local areas and bring more members into our organization, please let us know.

We hope to see you for our next on-line colloquium, which will take place between June 16 to 27. The panel and members will discuss Julie Gerhardt’s (2020) paper, “The Traumatic No Man’s Land of Psychic Devastation: Beyond Mourning and Melancholia.”

All best,
