Australia

The first few months of 2022 were quite intense, as we hosted seminars with Donnel Stern, Joyce Slochower and Matt Aibel in February and March, followed quickly by Steven Kuchuck and Danielle Novack in May. The usual hiatus to allow time for the IARPP international conference followed, and we picked up again in September with our own Peter Mackay, in the second seminar we’ve held that is focused on child and adolescent psychotherapy. This month Tom Wooldridge presents a second seminar on “Boys and their Muscles,” bringing our seminar program to a close for this year.

There was a second small workshop with Roy Barsness on Core Competencies in Relational Psychoanalysis. There will be another, more advanced, workshop next year.

Our six reading groups also continue to meet, and our final Community Conversation for 2022 takes place in early December.

Planning for next year’s program is well underway; however, I will leave the announcement of the 2023 events to the new president, Leena Chaugule. I have stepped down from the position of president and from the committee. I’d like to thank the 2022 Committee members, Brenda Rowlandson, Lyn Abery, Leena Chaugule, Kate Wright, Debra Meese and Lis Hanscombe, for all their work and commitment to the chapter and the IARPP-Australia membership for its continuing engagement with our programs and reading groups.

All the best for the holiday season and a happy and healthy 2023 to all.
