Letter from President
Dear IARPP Members,
The past few months have been filled with activity. In June, we enjoyed our latest Colloquium, “On Dreaming, Parasomnia, Dream Enactment, and Murder,” based on a paper by Brent Willock (Canada). It was the first Colloquium moderated by Laura Frigau (Italy/USA) and Temo Keshelashvili (Georgia/Canada), and we would like to thank them for their dedication, both during the Colloquium itself and throughout the weeks of preparation leading up to it. The Colloquium was particularly innovative in terms of its subject matter, featuring thought-provoking reflections from the panelists and a rich and engaging discussion among the participants.
In addition, two months ago we enjoyed our 22nd Annual Conference, entitled Can Hate Last? Reclaiming Clinical Sensibilities in Relational Psychoanalysis, which took place in Toronto. We explored how we live and work in the context of the hate we encounter, both within ourselves and others, and inside and outside our consulting rooms.
It was an extraordinary experience, both because of the outstanding theoretical and clinical quality of the conference and the excellence of its organization. I would like to take this opportunity to once again express my sincere gratitude to Hazel Ipp and Hilary Offman (Conference Co-Chairs; Canada); the Local Committee (Judi Kobrick, Afarin Kohan, Nira Kolers, Deborah Levine, Jamie McMillan, Christian Schulz-Quach, and Bettina Von Lieres; Canada); Valerie Ghent, Elisa Zazzera, and Lucía Lezama (IARPP Office, New York); and Nilou Mostofi.
At the same time, we deeply missed those colleagues who were unable to attend, whether for political or personal reasons. We very much hope to welcome them back at future IARPP conferences and gatherings.
Our most recent conference also brought important news. For those of you who may not yet have heard, it is my great pleasure to announce our new President Elect, Fabia Banella (Italy). We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with her many years of experience in the organization, her commitment and dedication, and her remarkable energy, wisdom, and warmth.
Also, our next year’s conference was announced: It will take place in Rome, June 17-20, 2027. By now, you will all have received the Call for Papers, which you can find here: https://iarpp.net/conference/2027-iarpp-conference-rome/ We warmly encourage you to submit proposals and help make the Rome conference an even more enriching and rewarding experience for everyone.
With warm regards,
Sandra Toribio Caballero
