Buenos Aires Chapter
Learning, Dialogue, and Building Community
Throughout 2026, IARPP Buenos Aires has continued to grow as a hub for the study, transmission, and development of relational psychoanalysis. Through an active academic, clinical, and institutional program of activities, we have built a community of learning, reflection, and dialogue that brings together colleagues from Argentina and many other countries. We have been encouraged to see this community continue to grow, sustained by a shared commitment to thinking about clinical practice from a relational perspective.
A major milestone this year has been the launch of our Annual Diploma Program in Relational Psychoanalysis, which has brought together more than 60 participants. The program provides a comprehensive exploration of major developments in relational psychoanalytic thought, integrating the study of foundational authors with clinical discussion and dialogue among professionals from diverse backgrounds and levels of clinical experience.

The Diploma Program is complemented by a range of ongoing activities that have become central to the identity of our chapter, including group and individual clinical supervision for adults, children, and adolescents; our monthly reading groups; the Women, Literature and Psychoanalysis workshop; and Between Scenes: Cinema and Relational Psychoanalysis. Together, these activities sustain a growing community of relational clinicians.
One of the year’s most meaningful events has been our tribute to Joan Coderch, held on the anniversary of his birth. Francesc Sainz Bermejo, Neri Daurella, and many colleagues shared personal memories and reflections on the enduring relevance of Joan’s work and the profound legacy that continues to inspire relational psychoanalysis.

Our academic program has also expanded through a broad library of asynchronous courses, designed to make training accessible beyond geographical distance and scheduling constraints. These courses address topics including trauma, dreams, child and adolescent psychotherapy, Winnicott and the relational perspective, Ferenczi, Kohut, motivational systems, emotions, and other central themes in relational psychoanalytic thought, allowing colleagues from Argentina and abroad to continue their professional development at their own pace. Our website further complements these educational resources by offering a collection of articles on relational psychoanalysis written by members of IARPP Buenos Aires.
For the first time, we have also offered a University Extension Course at the Universidad del Salvador (USAL), representing an important step toward bringing relational psychoanalysis into the university setting and fostering dialogue with new generations of mental health professionals.
Internationally, we have continued to strengthen our connections with other relational communities by deepening our collaboration with colleagues from the Ibero-Latin American Relational Group of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (GRILPP) and by participating in the IARPP International Conference in Toronto. Within this context, our Relational Gatherings have continued to serve as a valued forum for dialogue and exchange with invited colleagues from different countries.

Looking ahead to the second half of the year, we will continue expanding our academic program with new courses and activities, including Psychiatry for Psychologists; Rethinking Relational Psychoanalysis taught by Augusto Abello Blanco (Spain); The Human Process of Dying; and The Effects of New Technologies on Childhood and Adolescence.
Through these initiatives, we remain committed to fostering dialogue among colleagues and contributing to the continued development of relational psychoanalysis.
