Dear Colleagues,

Another very hot summer here in New York, smoke and residue from Canada’s forest fires to the north lending the sky an eerie orange hue. Fires tearing through Spain and France, and the conflict and wars around the world continuing to rage unabated. The heat keeps rising.

A respite of sorts to focus one’s full attention, session by session, on the struggles of our patients, even though their difficulties keep forcing us to recognize our own.

The planet spins, and the world goes round and round. So wrote Broadway lyricist Fred Ebb.

This month’s edition of The IARPP Bulletin features further perspectives on our recent Annual Conference in Toronto, with reflections from a plenary presenter, a conference committee member, and a conference participant, along with descriptions of two excellent panel presentations. Another opportunity to contemplate various iterations of the conference theme of our relationship – clinically, personally, socially, and politically – with hate … and its fraternal twin, love.

In addition, you’ll find a round-up of committee and chapter reports.

I also want to note that the IARPP Board recently appointed Rajan Gupta (New Zealand) to serve as a new Board Member. He joins the three recently-elected new members, Hélder Chambel (Portugal), Noga Guggenheim (Israel) and Marianthi Michalakopoulou (Greece).

If you would like to share news of your recent or upcoming publications or presentations in the next (October) IARPP Bookshelf, please send the following materials to me at MattAibel@gmail.com by Sunday, September 27, 2026:

  • Title of your recent or upcoming publication(s)/presentation(s) (“Recent” means within the prior year; IARPP Annual Conference presentations are not eligible)
  • Abstract of the content, up to 150 words
  • Link to a publisher, if applicable, so that members might access or purchase a copy
  • Book cover photo or artwork, if applicable
  • Digital photograph of yourself (jpeg format)

  • Book authors, please provide a brief bio of up to 90 words
  • Presenters, please spell out organizational acronyms and include the location, if in-person

Wishing you a good remainder of the summer or winter, depending on your hemisphere.
