AI and Psychoanalysis: An Engaging Roundtable Exploring the Evolving Intersections between Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology, and the Psychoanalytic Mind

Melmed, M. (2026, May 15). AI and psychoanalysis: An engaging roundtable exploring the evolving intersections between artificial intelligence, digital technology, and the psychoanalytic mind [Panel presentation]. NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, Spring Colloquium, New York, NY.

Michael Melmed recently participated as a panelist in this discussion featuring leading voices on the human experience in a technological world, alongside Todd Essig, Amy Levy, and Leora Trub. The presentation examined how emerging technologies are reshaping subjectivity, relational life, and clinical practice. Together the panelists considered AI as both tool and “other,” raising questions about imagination, embodiment, ethics, and the lens psychoanalysis offers on the future of analytic work in an increasingly mediated world.
