Note from the Membership Committee
The IARPP conference in Toronto was a huge success, garnering over 500 participants from around the world for our Annual Conference. It was wonderful to see so many of us there, to hear about the growth and evolution of relational therapy around the world, to share experiences from in and out of the consulting room, to socialize, to dance and to just be together. The conference was exceptionally rich, with many powerful clinical papers plumbing the depths and challenges of our immersion in hate and love from around the world and an equally astonishing array of significant scholarly contributions. It amounted to a remarkable demonstration of the powerful impact of relational ideas and their clinical and social application from five continents. It was fun to be together and relieving to be able to share with one another the challenges we have faced in what, for many of us, was an unspeakably difficult year. But we did our best to speak about it nevertheless.
Among those who attended the conference, we had people coming from Argentina, Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Austria, Israel, Turkey, Ukraine, Brazil, India, Iran, China, Norway, Peru, Georgia, UK, Portugal, Chile, Australia, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Greece, Canada and the US. In addition, we had online participants from many of these countries, as well as from Ethiopia, Cyprus, and Sweden.
Plenary and panel papers and discussions were delivered by members from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, India, Iran, UK, Israel, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, and the US.
IARPP is an extraordinary vibrant international community of more than two thousand members on the cutting edge of contemporary relational psychoanalytic thought, well beyond what we could have imagined at the time of its founding in 2000. We are still growing, seeing our international membership expanding each year, and hoping for more.
Please tell your friends and colleagues about your experience at IARPP, and invite them to join us in the coming year in our colloquia, webinars and at our 2027 conference in Rome, which we know will be another extraordinary IARPP experience. And please let us know what would further enrich your experience at IARPP.
We are already looking forward to our next chance to meet, in Rome, June 24, 2027. You will be hearing from us soon with details, and before long we will be sending the call for papers along to you so you can get started on your contribution for next year’s meeting. We hope to see you all there.
