From the Editor

Dear Colleagues,

As Dolly Parton once sang, “Here you come again.” Having had a lot to say in last month’s colloquium, I here return to your attention, this time in my role as editor of The IARPP Bulletin. In his 2021 Credo, Ken Corbett (USA) wrote, “I learned that children are rarely (almost never) looking for someone with a lot to say. I find this also to be true with adults” (Psychoanalytic Dialogues, p. 256). In this spirit, and with the recognition that you may have read enough words from me lately, I will keep my remarks in this Bulletin brief.

The pandemic has continued to reshape the nature and structure of analytic gatherings world-wide. While IARPP chapters have in some cases returned to in-person gatherings, Zoom meetings and hybrid set-ups have continued to be the norm. In the reports accompanying this note, you’ll have the opportunity to discover a cross-section of activities from nine chapters from around the globe, in addition to updates from a number of our executive committees.

This is the time of year to renew your annual IARPP membership. Your current 2022 membership runs through January 31, 2023. In order to keep your membership current, please access the renewal email that IARPP recently sent you or else click here.

If you have recent publications or presentations you would like the IARPP community to be aware of, please send me the following materials by Sunday, January 29, 2023 in order for your news to appear in the February edition of The IARPP Bookshelf:

  • Title of your recent or upcoming publication or presentation
  • An abstract or brief description of its content (around 150 words)
  • Link to a publisher (if applicable) so that members might access or purchase a copy
  • Book cover photo or artwork (if applicable)
  • Digital photograph of yourself (jpeg format)
  • Professional contact information as you would like it to appear publicly for our readers (city/town in which you practice or work; email address)
  • Book authors, please provide a brief bio of 75-90 words.
  • Presenters, please spell out organizational acronyms and include location (if in-person).
  • The Bookshelf does not include announcements of IARPP Conference presentations.

Wishing you well,
