Webinars

Since our last report, the Webinar Committee offered a program led by Karen Maroda (USA) in which participants discussed two chapters from her recent book, The Analyst’s Vulnerability: Impact on Theory and Practice: “The Analyst’s Early Experiences” and “Conflict and Negative Countertransference.” The webinar, co-moderated by Cynthia Chalker (USA) and Micha Weiss (Israel), ran October 17-30 with 91 participants from 18 countries. During these two weeks the discussion revolved around the ideas of the analyst’s vulnerability and the negative feelings we have towards our patients and how we respond to them. It was a very stimulating exchange.

Our final webinar of the year, conducted in Italian, will be “Facing Mistakes in Clinical Work and Supervision,” featuring panelists Simona Caprilli, Francesco Di Giuseppe, Gianni Nebbiosi, Enrico Paolini, Valeria Salatino and Paolo Pietro Stramba-Badiale, with Carmine Schettini and Maria Silvia Soriato as co-moderators. The webinar, which took place November 21 to December 4, was open to 35 participants. It addressed a very important subject which has not yet been fully explored. Each panelist’s contribution included a personal reflection on the topic, and these contributions constituted the “text” to stimulate the discussion among the participants.

Our programming for 2023 will include webinars organized by the Candidates Committee, the Child, Adolescent and Parent Psychotherapy Committee, and webinars in English, Italian and Spanish. You will hear from us soon with further details about these programs.
