Australia

There have been some unforeseen changes here in Australia, and by now many of you will have received the sad news that Gerard Webster has resigned from the presidency of our Chapter due to unexpected medical issues.  As the Interim President of IARPP-Australia, I would like to acknowledge all the work he has done for the association over the last 12 months, and particularly to thank him for ensuring this year’s seminar program is finalized before stepping back. I have very much enjoyed working with both Gerard and Roberto D’Angelo over many years, and we will all miss their passion and enthusiasm, their knowledge and experience. On behalf of the remaining committee members, Lyn Abery, Brenda Rowlandson, Roshi Vahdani, Leena Chaugule, Tammy Ben-Shaul, Debra Meese (both in Melbourne) and Margie Chodos (ex-officio), I would like to express our appreciation for their tireless efforts and expertise and wish them both all the best.

Our 2019 online video seminar series commences this month with Daniel Shaw (USA) presenting on Working with Dissociated Aggression in Traumatized Patients. Future seminars this year will feature Judith Pickles (USA), Jill Salberg (USA), Darlene Ehrenberg (USA) and Jessica Benjamin (USA). All these seminar presentations can be accessed in real time from anywhere in the world – please join us, but remember that the dates and times given are for Sydney, Australia. Look for our announcements on the IARPP listserv.

Our Melbourne “sub-chapter” is growing: several reading groups are up and running and the Community Conversations continue to attract diverse participation. The Melbourne committee is also looking forward to hosting Andrew Samuels (UK) at an Open Relational Forum when he visits Australia in October.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the annual conference in Tel Aviv.
